An untitled project helmed by filmmaker Ryan Coogler starring actor Michael B. Jordan will open in theaters on March 7, 2025. Warner Bros Studios is releasing the film after a bidding war after winning a close bidding war with other studios.

Many details about the project are unknown, but Kugler will write and direct the film. Proximity Media will produce the movie with Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, and Sev Ohanian. Of the few details available, the film will be a period genre story. Filming will begin in April.

Ludwig Göransson, who collaborated with Coogler on many past projects as a composer, will executive produce with Rebecca Cho and Will Greenfield. Göransson and Coogler worked together on Marvel Studios’ 2018 superhero film Blank Panther, Creed, and Fruitvale Station. Recently, Göransson won an Oscar for best score for his effort on Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster Oppenheimer. Göransson previously won an Oscar for Coogler’s Black Panther film as well.

This movie is Coogler and Jordan's second project with Warner Bros. Film Group co-chairs and CEOs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy since Creed III.

Coogler first rose to prominence in Hollywood after 2015’s Creed, effectively kick-starting an entirely new series of films based on Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky franchise. Coogler’s most recent film was with Marvel Studios for the Black Panther sequel: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
