The Worlds Of ‘Ahsoka’ Season 1

It’s been three years since Ahsoka premiered, and the second season isn’t set to release until early 2027. In the meantime, there’s plenty of speculation about where the story will take viewers. Star Wars is well-known for introducing new planets with each new installment of the franchise, but it feels like some of the planet plotlines depicted in season one of Ahsoka may be unfinished. Let’s take a look back at those planets and how they featured into the show.

Arcana

There’s not much to say about Arcana except that it’s a small feature in the plot. Ahsoka travels to Arcana to steal a map, one that she believed pointed the way to Grand Admiral Thrawn. Ahsoka is hell-bent on finding Thrawn, believing him to be the greatest threat to the growth of the New Republic and stability in the post-Empire era. Arcana was a planet used by the Nightsisters of Dathomir long before the events of the original trilogy. Since the Nightsisters and witches seem to be a central focus of the Thrawn story, and Thrawn is working with the Great Mothers on Peridea, there’s a chance that Arcana may still factor into Ahsoka going forward, but it’s unclear why.

Lothal

Lothal became famous to Star Wars fans in the Rebels series as the home of rebel upstart and future jedi, Ezra Bridger. It’s depicted as a grassy planet, with massive planes of wavy, golden grass pockmarked by cities. It was occupied by the Empire during the war, but became a haven for rebels despite Imperial presence (sometimes the best place to hide is right under the enemy’s nose). After the fall of the Empire, it seemed to prosper, given it’s role with the Rebellion, shown in Ahsoka with larger cities and populations. It was also the adopted home of Sabine Wren after Ezra’s disappearance. With Ezra Bridger back, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Lothal is featured again in Ahsoka’s second season.

Corellia

Corellia is probably one of the oldest (lore-wise) and most recognizable names in the Star Wars galaxy. It is, after all, the home of Han Solo. Despite that, it’s depiction and role as a setting for the shows or movies is minimal. It was seen briefly at the beginning of Solo and in season one of Ahsoka, and this was mostly due to Corellia’s primary economic contributor to the galaxy: shipbuilding. Corellia isn’t exactly moral when it comes to governmental allegiance, having been a primary shipbuilding center for the Empire and now a site of retrofitting and shipbuilding for the New Republic. It’s what brought Ahsoka to the planet, where she discovered Super Star Destroyer hyperdrives being smuggled to Seatos.

Seatos

There’s not much to say about Seatos other than that it was an important jumping-off point. It was depicted as a dark planet with bright, red-leafed trees, and it seems to have been the site for a secret project for Morgan Elsbeth, the Nightsister that fans met in The Mandalorian. Elsbeth was constructing a massive hyperspace rig capable of reaching another galaxy. Her goal? Find Grand Admiral Thrawn and bring him back to the galaxy.

But why Seatos? It seems to be because an ancient race from another galaxy, seemingly the galaxy into which Thrawn had disappeared, built a sort of compass or star map there to locate their former home.

Peridea

Peridea is the planet where the season ends. It resides in a different galaxy than the majority of other known Star Wars planets and stories. The Purrgill, vacuum-traversing space whales, travel here at the end of their migration. The witches used them to traverse from one galaxy to the other, which is how Ahsoka was able to follow Elsbeth to Peridea. It’s the location of Grand Admiral Thrawn’s exile, as well as the ancient homeworld of the Nightsisters. The ones that reside on Peridea are of the Witch Kingdom of the Dathmiri, ruled over by the Great Mothers. The last we see of the planet is Baylan Skoll following some sort of call from the Force, suggesting a link to the Mortis Gods. It’s likely to still be a focal point in season two, given that Skoll remained, while Ahsoka and the others (other than Ezra) were stranded there.
