Square Enix is diving into another crossover. Their online game Final Fantasy XIV is collaborating with Evangelion for a series of Alliance Raids in their Evercold expansion, with the first one titled Ghosts of Desire. The new content will be unique to Final Fantasy XIV and developed by Square Enix with Khara supervising. This crossover comes at an important moment for the anime series as Evangelion just celebrated its 30th anniversary this past February.

When the game was announced, Final Fantasy XIV Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida shared her enthusiasm. She said, “So many of you may know, already that I am a massive Evangelion otaku, so I reckon your expectations will be through the roof, but I’m more confident that we can bring you something that will both surprise and-.” According to Netto’s Game Room, the translator was cut off due to Yoshida’s nervousness. Yoshida then promised more information will be revealed at the Tokyo fan fest. In other news, Khana is developing a new Evangelion anime. This is welcome news for fans as the last bit of new content was a 2023 Blu-ray and DVD release Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.11 Thrice Upon A Time. The Evercold expansion releases in January 2027 on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
