Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Aimee Lou Wood has been cast in Working Title’s TV adaptation of Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre. WGA Award Winner Miriam Battye will pen the script for Working Title’s production of the Brontë classic, which was last adapted for TV by the BBC in 2006. The 2006 adaptation starred Ruth Wilson as Jane Eyre and Toby Stephens as Edward Fairfax Rochester. Casting for Mr. Rochester in the latest adaptation hasn’t been revealed yet.

Jane Eyre is a seminal Victorian novel about a plain young governess who bewitches her brooding master. It chronicles the journey of Jane from childhood to adulthood, as she navigates class differences, morality, independence, and relationships. The passionate story has been adapted many times already, but it will be Working Title’s second adaptation of a classic in just a few months. They’re also producing an adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility along with Focus Features, which stars Daisy Edgar-Jones as Elinor Dashwood. It is expected to be released in September. Aimee Lou Wood was nominated for an Emmy, SAG, and Golden Globe for her performance in Season 3 of The White Lotus, and has also worked with Angelina Jolie on Anxious People. Deadline reports that talks with a UK broadcaster to join the project are in advanced stages.
