Akira Toriyama's 'Sand Land' Will Be Adapted By Bandai-Namco

Sand Land, a post-apocalyptic short manga created by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, is teased to be the subject of a new project by Bandai-Namco. The video game publisher released a teaser trailer for the project simply titled Sand Land Project. At this time, it is unclear what this project entails. However, many have speculated that this is going to be a video game project given the nature of the company behind it.

The project’s official website gives this description:

“The SAND LAND project will introduce audiences to the world, characters, and vehicles of SAND LAND, an original work by Akira Toriyama.”

More information about this project is scheduled to be announced on December 17th. Sand Land is a short manga series that was written by Akira Toriyama and serialized in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in Japan in 2000 and in its English counterpart Shonen Jump in 2003. The manga follows the story of Prince Beezlebub (the son of Lucifer) and former Sheriff Rao as they travel to fight against the tyrannical king of Sand Land who sells the only source of water left after the river dried up at rather expensive prices. The citizens of Sand Land are forced to steal money and water from each other.
