Composer Kohei Tanaka and screenwriter Osamu Suzuki shared X posts to honor their late companion, Tatsuya Nagamine. Nagamine had passed away in the summer, but the X posts are the first news of it to reach Western culture. Suzuki attended a gathering on November 13 in remembrance of Nagamine. Nagamine was a prolific director whose work spanned multiple One Piece and Dragon Ball movies and episodes along with a couple of Digimon movies, and a whole plethora of anime projects. After the gathering, Tanaka shared cherished memories of Nagamine. He posted, “I fondly remember the many entertaining meetings we had…I wish I could hear his machine-gun like way of speaking one last time.”
Suzuki was unable to attend the gathering but took to X to honor the anime director. He wrote, “At first, he [Nagamine] didn’t show me a single smile. I thought he was very stern, and I had moments where I lost heart.” The post continued that after the completion of the script, Nagamine bowed to Suzuki and thanked him for all his hard work. Suzuki admitted that he almost cried then praised Nagamine for putting his heart and soul into all his work. Nagamine was 53 years old at the time of his passing.
