The last few months have been an exciting time for comic book readers, as the two biggest companies have teamed up for the first time in over twenty years. Previously, Marvel and DC have paired up for iconic crossovers such as Batman/The Hulk, JLA/Avengers, Superman/Spider-Man, and the massive DC vs Marvel event that saw the universes combine into the Amalgam universe that combined iconic characters into one. Most recently, readers were treated to Deadpool/Batman #1, with Batman/Deadpool #1 on its way later this month. To hold over readers until then, the two companies have surprised fans with two previously unannounced crossovers.
Subscribers to DC Universe and Marvel Unlimited were treated to two new crossover comics that were released individually on each of the companies’ comic streaming apps. DC Universe subscribers can read The Flash/Fantastic Four, which pits the heroes against each other and forces them to work together as Gorilla Grodd mind controls them one by one to access a device held by Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mr Fantastic. Meanwhile, Marvel Unlimited was granted Thor/Shazam, which sees the two thunder-wielding titans team up as their powers seem to be waning and to take down a threat that is harvesting the magic of their worlds. Notably, the two comics are in a mobile scrolling format that is prevalent among DC Go titles and Webtoon comics.
