Season one of Fallout on Prime Video was a smashing success, adding to the growing slate of well-received video game film adaptations. This clearly led to the renewal of the series for a season two, and now officially a season three, and season two will premiere in just over a month on December 17.
Season one ended with a look at the New Vegas skyline, essentially guaranteeing that season two will take viewers to the fan favorite locale. Leaked set photos confirmed this more, and now, the official trailer for season two has arrived.
There’s so much to unpack in this trailer, so let’s get to it.
First of all, within the first 30 seconds, we see the feared radscorpion, gigantic scorpions that populate the desert wasteland. The trailer also reintroduces us to the 3 main characters from the first season: Lucy, Maximus, and the Ghoul. They also show the wandering salesman being attacked by a radroach, essentially confirming his return. Norm, Lucy’s brother, is also shown, with clips of vault life continuing in ignorance (or is it?).

The Ghoul and Lucy are accompanying each other, seemingly on the way to New Vegas to find her father (played by Kyle MacLachlan), who we found out is in on the Vault-Tec conspiracy in season one. The trailer also reveals a little more about the Ghoul’s purpose and why he’s stayed alive for 200 years. He’s looking for his family (or likely, where they died, since it’s unlikely that they lived 200 years like him). What’s intriguing and exciting is a deep, gravely voice seemingly responding to him with the phrase “you’re going to need friends.” This is exciting, because it could be what many fans were hoping for in season one: is finally making an appearance in season two: super mutants. They’re large, green, and usually pretty mean. The voice also alludes to a war that is coming.
Fans of the games will also recognize the Roman armor of Caesar’s Legion, one of the rival factions in Fallout: New Vegas. They were opposed to the New California Republic. We also know the Brotherhood of Steel opposes the New California Republic. With reference to a war, we could see these three factions clash. Further complicating things, we see that Kumail Nanjiani makes an appearance, perhaps as a member of the BoS, referencing a civil war.
The trailer is chock full of easter eggs and treats for fans of the games, especially when it ends with a man in a power suit, whom we are led to believe is Maximus, running at and taking on a deathclaw, one of the most powerful and dangerous enemies in the game.
Season two starts on December 17 on Prime Video.
