Doom has come to town. Marvel Studios has shown off Avengers: Doomsday at CinemaCon, and this includes some first looks at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. The actor walked on stage, while Sympathy for the Devil played, exclaiming, “I couldn’t have imagined reuniting with this amazing team — let alone as a new character.” This comes after his character was killed off in Endgame, for those of you who don’t remember. This reveal is sure to bring excitement to viewers, but has already proven to be divisive for a few reasons. Regardless, we will check in on this project as it progresses through production.

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige said of the project, “Doomsday picks up where Avengers: Endgame left off.” The Russo brothers are returning to direct, with Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely writing the script. Joe Russo spoke a bit about Doom, saying, “He’s not simply a villain — he’s one of the most complex Marvel characters. He’s always three moves ahead.”  After that, we had Downey’s appearance and a trailer that provided a better look at the actor in his costume. Avengers: Doomsday is hitting theaters on December 26 of this year, with a huge amount of hype surrounding it.
