A Song of Ice and Fire has been on an indefinite hiatus for over fifteen years, but the franchise continues to move without the books. Case in point, author George R. R. Martin has just announced an ASOIAF calendar for 2027. Already available for pre-order on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, the calendar will feature a total of twelve characters and moments from the fantasy book series, alongside a fold out poster, all drawn by Tyler Jacobson. This will be a great way for fans to start the new year, and offer a new look into the land of Westeros.

A Game of Thrones was first published in 1996. Since then, the book series has expanded into the world of television, with HBO’s highly acclaimed Game of Thrones show quickly spawning a franchise. With numerous spin-offs already here, it seems that the books are the weak link of the franchise in terms of release. With that in mind, this new calendar might not help tide fans over (they’ve already been ribbing Martin about his release schedule), but it’s still a sign that there’s life in the books yet. With that being said, we shall return to our offices until the next news article.
