Warner Bros. and Legendary announced last week that production has begun on a new Godzilla and King Kong film. Details have not yet been decided and/or released. However, an opening date, title, and some nuts and bolts have been shared, along with a teaser trailer.
The upcoming monster flick, produced by Mary Parent and Thomas Tull, will be the sixth film in the series. Helming the director’s chair will be I Am Mother’s Grant Sputore with a script penned by David Callahan and Michael Lloyd Green. Notably, Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, starring Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemon, Wyatt Russell, and Kurt Russell, shares the world-building efforts in this franchise, with a greenlight granted for a second season as well.
The cast so far for this latest installment in the MonsterVerse includes Kaitlyn Dever, Dan Stevens, Jack O’Connell, Matthew Modine, Delroy Lindo, Alycia Debnam-Carey, and Jurassic Park alum, Sam Neill. There will likely be many new faces in the cast as the project progresses, both human and monster. Unfortunately, specifics are not available at this time. However, there is a high likelihood that fans will get to see Mothra make an appearance, if not in the upcoming film, then in future installments of it.
The official title is Godzilla X Kong: Supernova, with an expected theatrical release date of March 26, 2027! You may be wondering what fans should do in the meantime. We suggest using this waiting period to rewatch the franchise and check out the teaser video below!
