'Hocus Pocus 2' Reveals First Look At Billy Butcherson

The cult classic Hocus Pocus is finally getting a long-awaited sequel, directed by Anne Fletcher coming to the streaming site Disney+ this fall. The news is starting to trickle out for it, and Entertainment Weekly has shown an image of actor Doug Jones in costume, returning as his two-timing Zombie character, Billy Butcherson, who had returned to his grave to slumber away in the afterlife at the conclusion of the first film. His humor in his dialogue and physical movement was a highlight of the original, so it portends good things for the tone of the film that he is returning to. And that the fans will get to follow along with their favorites once again.
Billy was one of Doug Jones’ very first film roles, and he has gone on to portray many iconic characters, often in full prosthetics, including Captain Saru in Star Trek.

Also confirmed as returning in Hocus Pocus 2 are the Sanderson Sisters: Winnie (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker), and Mary (Kathy Najimy). A sequel has already been released in book form, but it sounds like the new film won’t be based on it. Doug Jones also won’t be joined by the original Black Candle lighter Max, played by Omri Katz.
