Disney has just released the teaser trailer for their upcoming documentary series on Afeni and Tupac Shakur. Lasting a mere 42 seconds and titled ‘Arrogant,’ it hints at a mother attempting to teach her son to survive ‘his reality .’The film is named after the rapper’s famous hit, and like the song, it looks as if Disney is not going to shy away from their complicated relationship.

The short is already picking up critical acclaim after walking away with a win from the Aspen Shorts Fest and two nominations from categories at the Mont Clair Film Festival and the SXSW Film Festival this year. The cast and crew showcase POC talent with newcomer Winter Dunn (Deputy) in the director’s chair and Charmaine Cleveland penning the script. Considering Afeni’s advocacy for Black rights throughout her life, as well as her Black Panther affiliations, it’s only fitting.

The teaser trailer is remarkably quiet, so there are no clues on how much of Tupac’s music is being used in short, but it’s hard to imagine that anyone could produce a film on this pair without it. We advise increasing the volume when it is released on Hulu in 2023.

Check out the trailer below.
