‘Black Adam’ Trailer Shows Dwayne Johnson Facing Off Against DC’s Mightiest Heroes

DC
Black Adam

After five years in development, the first trailer for Black Adam is finally here! With a teaser last year, images being released by Dwayne Johnson and DC since then, and a little bit of footage being released in The World Needs Heroes teaser for the 2022 film lineup from DC, it's been a long road to this point. Yesterday, the poster for the film was released with the exciting headline on social media, "TRAILER TOMORROW". This morning, we finally get our first full-blown trailer for the movie set to pit Black Adam against the Justice Society.

The trailer begins with Pierce Brosnan's Dr. Fate talking to Black Adam. Then followed by extraordinary visuals as we witness the Justice Society facing off with Black Adam. He makes it clear to them where he stands. As Hawkman tells him "Heroes don't kill people" he responds with a simple, "Well I do." The action only continues from here, as he faces off against a military force. Catching rockets and hitting soldiers so hard they fly through the skies. Dwayne Johnson appears serious and determined in this trailer, truly capturing the intensity of the character. His costume design does his character just as much justice, as does the designs for the Justice Society.

If this trailer is any major indication of the tone, it appears that we will be getting an action-heavy film with comedy sprinkled about it. It seems DC is following in the footsteps of their other DCEU successes Aquaman and The Suicide Squad by balancing the two, thus making it more pleasing to audiences. The plot itself appears to remain largely serious as Dr. Fate seems to be trying to convince Black Adam he can do more good than bad, but fans of Black Adam know that he walks a fine line between the two. Black Adam lives by a code of his own and sees the line of good and evil more as a blur than a defined path. Seeing these characters on the big screen will no doubt be a delight.

With stunning visuals, an action-heavy romp, and impressive early looks at the performances of Dr. Fate, Black Adam, and Hawkman, this trailer is sure to excite any DC fan. There are still 4 more months until the film's release, so be prepared to watch this trailer on repeat until then. If this trailer is any indication of what we will get, then it will be well worth the five-year wait.
