James Gunn Says He Has Written A Third Of A New DC Television Show

DC

James Gunn is the creative half of DC Studios’s co-CEOship. He may have the second season of Peacemaker still in the works, and he’s writing a new Superman film as he’s tasked with spearheading the creation of a new DC Universe. And this is all while he wraps up his Guardians of the Galaxy run at Marvel Studios. And yet, as he revealed on Thursday evening, that’s not all.

Gunn tweeted a recap of his day. For Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 he approved 100 VFX shots, did reference acting for Rocket, and provided editing notes. He even had a couple of important meetings with DC Studios. But the first thing he brought up? He wrote a third of an unannounced DC TV show. While that made him very happy, with all of it put together, he was spent. We don’t know which third it was, but it would probably sound a little different if it was the completing third.

There’s no real hint of what this project could be,  except the obvious exclusion of everything already in production. It’s the project as a whole that’s unannounced, not solely his direct involvement, after all. He’s not jumping onto the Green Lantern series, for example. In June, The Playlist asked about the reported Amanda Waller series, and the response revealed he was working on several DC projects, noting the reports at the time were a mixed bag of accuracy, just as had been with his initial moves in his new position last month. Those projects are still unannounced officially, yet have a possibility of surfacing soon. This new show could also be a fresh project put forward since then.
