Kevin Conroy, the generation-defining voice of Bruce Wayne and Batman for 30 years, died at 66 after a short battle with cancer. His death was first reported by his Batman: The Animated Series co-star Diane Pershing, the voice of Poison Ivy.

Conroy spent 14 years voicing Batman across the DC Animated Universe, including Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Static Shock, and of course, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, and its related films, like Mask of the Phantasm, SubZero, and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. In 2008, he voiced the character in Batman: Gotham Knight, his first time in DC’s formal line of direct-to-video movies, his last being Justice League vs. the Fatal Five in 2019. The year following Gotham Knight, he began voicing the character in the Arkham series of Batman video games opposite long-time co-star Mark Hamill's The Joker. His last titles in that series were the non-console Batman: Arkham Underworld (a smartphone game that lasted from 2016-2017) and Batman: Arkham VR, also released in 2016. His final role as the caped crusader in any medium is in MultiVersus, a Smash Bros-esque videogame with characters from  Warner Bros. properties.

In addition to voicing Batman, Conroy also voiced John Grayson in The Batman and two characters in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. He guest starred on Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? when the caped crusader crossed paths with Mystery Incorporated. He also portrayed Mer-Man in Masters of the Universe: Revelation, and Hordak in the closing moments of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe reboot’s most recent season.
