As the main stage of the Nintendo Switch’s life comes to an end amid the growing knowledge that the next generation of Nintendo’s consoles is set to release next year, information is coming to light in ways that may not have been previously considered. For example, details about the Switch 2, as people are calling it, have just come to light as a result of a leak of documents from Microsoft and its ongoing litigation to acquire Activision-Blizzard.

In a nine-page email almost entirely redacted, it is now apparent that the infamous CEO of Activision-Blizzard, Bobby Kotick, had met with President and CEO of Nintendo Shuntaro Furukawa in December. The email was sent from senior staff and directors at Activision to Bobby Kotick.

The email details the technical capabilities of the new Nintendo platform, which is supposedly a portable system much like the current generation Switch. Per the email, the next generation Nintendo console will have the power and prowess of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. VGC also reported that a higher-visually-performing version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was shown recently on the new console. It tracks with the development history of Nintendo consoles being at, or slightly better, than previous generation rival consoles.

The oddity of this information merely comes from the fact that it was discovered in the leak of Microsoft’s documents in their case to acquire Activision-Blizzard, and is the result of the question regarding the exclusivity of Activision-Blizzard’s best-selling franchise, Call of Duty.

There is no further definitive information on Nintendo’s next-generation console, other than it is supposed to release sometime in 2024.
