Are you ready for another “Mystical Adventure?” A new Dragon Ball anime titled Dragon Ball Daima has been announced at New York City Comic Con. The anime is set before the end of Dragon Ball Z but before Dragon Ball Super and features Son Goku and the others reverting to children due to the work of a mysterious otherworldly force. Now, they must go off on a grand adventure to a brand-new world to make things right. Fans may notice that this is similar in plot to the controversial Dragon Ball GT, but unlike that entry which featured virtually no involvement from series creator Akira Toriyama, it was teased that the famed artist would be involved “beyond his usual capacity.” Toriyama himself even released a statement regarding the new anime:

“It's a grand adventure with intense action in an unknown and mysterious world. Since Goku has to make up for his petite size, he uses his Nyoibo (Power Pole) to fight, something not seen in a long time. I came up with the story and settings, as well as a lot of the designs. I'm actually putting a lot more into this than usual! Things will unfold that close in on the mysteries of the Dragon Ball world. Hope you all enjoy these different-from-usual battles that are cute and powerful!!”

Even the voice of Goku, Masako Nozawa, had something to say regarding the reveal of the new anime:

“Wasn’t the video for the new series “Dragon Ball DAIMA” amazing? Goku was so adorable and wonderful! I wonder about the conspiracy behind Goku’s new appearance. I'm very curious, but I'm told the details are still a secret! I’ll be waiting for the new anime along with all of you! I hope you look forward to it too!”

A trailer was premiered at the convention, hitting Toei’s official YouTube soon after. Dragon Ball Daima is set to release in the fall of next year as part of the brand’s 40th anniversary.
