Robert Pattinson says he has no idea who he is right now, but he’ll figure it out. The Primetime actor filmed so many different projects back to back that his roles began to blur together. Pattinson revealed that he even channeled some of his previous performances when he stepped into the role of Chris Hansen in Primetime.
He says he found similarities between his character, Bruce Wayne, aka The Batman, and the pedophile catcher Hansen. Pattinson says, “They both really like making dramatic entrances. The original Primetime script was funnier. As we turned it into a sort of thriller, I think I started adding some Batman-esque elements—that whole concept of a charismatic vigilante who meddles in people’s lives.” Hansen was a famous TV host who had good intentions but got carried away due to the greed for high ratings. This greed is seen in Pattinson’s eccentric portrayal of real-life personality and has drawn criticism from Hansen.

The English actor had to fake an American accent as both Bruce Wayne and Chris Hansen which led to problems for him. He’s currently filming The Batman: Part II and says it took him ages to get Hansen’s accent and pronunciation of words right, “But Chris Hansen still haunts me to this day, you know. On the set of The Batman 2, several times I paused after a line, wondering, “Do Americans really pronounce that word like that?” Before realizing: no, of course not—only Chris Hansen talks like that!” At the moment, there’s buzz that he will be nominated for his performance as Chris Hansen for Best Actor and as Best Supporting Actor for his turn as Antinous in The Odyssey. Pattinson’s biggest competition right now is himself, and his ability to differentiate between all his on-screen personas. He will be seen again as Scytale in Dune: Part Three this December.
