A television series based on Dungeon Crawler Carl is in development, and it has reportedly secured another executive producer. According to Variety, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will be one of the show's EPs under Fuzzy Door, the production company he founded in 2019. Chris Yost will write for the series and co-produce with MacFarlane. The creator of Dungeon Crawler Carl, Matt Dinniman, expressed confidence in MacFarlane's work, “[We’re] not going to do it if it’s gonna look like absolute sh*t…But Fuzzy Door, specifically, if you watch ‘Ted’ or ‘The Orville,’ you’ll see that they know what they’re doing when it comes to this.”
Dungeon Crawler Carl is a Literary Roleplay Game book series, also known as a LitRPG. The Goodreads summary reads, “A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible.” The first book turns the apocalypse into a source of entertainment, requiring the characters to be as outgoing and exciting as possible in their kill counts and efforts for survival to attract benefactors. There are eight books in the main series and one graphic novel. The television adaptation is in development at Peacock. There is no release date at this time.
