Taika Waititi Says His 'Star Wars' Movie Won't Start Filming This Year, Hinting At A Later Release
For anyone who was looking for Star Wars on the big screen, it seems that they may have to wait a little bit longer. During his press tour for Thor: Love and Thunder Taika Wattiti has been asked if his Star Wars film would be on the docket for 2023. Kathleen Kennedy has mentioned a few times that a Star Wars film could hit our screens in late 2023, and it seems Taika was going to be next. However, in an interview with The Wrap Taika has said that he has no plans to film this year. Assuming that is true then it will be tough for a film to come out late next year without feeling rushed.
As of now, we have three movies that seem to be in various forms of development from Rogue Squadron to the Kevin Fiege film. When these films will come out is honestly hard to say at the moment. Taika has also talked about how he wants his film to be about new and different things, really expanding the Star Wars universe in a way that will only make it better for the future in the long run. Who knows when the Taika Waititi film will release, hopefully, it won’t be too long.
