Terence Blanchard Set To Score 'Children Of Blood And Bone'

Orïsha is about to be accompanied by sweet, sweet music! It’s officially been confirmed that award-winning jazz musician and film composer will provide the score for Gina Prince-Bythewood’s upcoming adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone!

An accomplished jazz trumpeter, Terence Blanchard is one of the most celebrated and beloved jazz musicians alive. In the film world, Blanchard is best known for his frequent collaborations with Spike Lee, scoring nearly all his films since Jungle Fever in 1991.

His scores for BlackKklansman and Da 5 Bloods earned him Academy Award nominations for Best Original Score, making him one of only two Black film composers to be nominated more than once, the other being Quincy Jones. Blanchard’s score for Inside Man is frequently cited as one of the greatest films scores of the 21st Century. Blanchard is also known for his frequent collaborations with Kasi Lemmons, scoring all her films since her debut, Talk To Me, in 2007. Children of Blood and Bone will be Blanchard’s third collaboration with Gina Prince-Bythewood, following Love & Basketball and The Woman King.

Children of Blood and Bone makes its way into theaters on January 15th, 2027.
