Before Ray Stevenson passed on May 21, he was able to share a final interview, thanks to the Dagobah Dispatch, about the upcoming Star Wars series Ahsoka. The late actor plays the role of Baylon, a villain of the series who may turn out to be a fallen Jedi.

Stevenson had nothing but positive things to say about the upcoming series. He recalled, “One of the things that was so overwhelming at first was the costumes are works of art. And the set designs. You think, who designed this? And then you look at the set construction that is surrounding you — the technical and creative talent is quite breathtaking. And you've got to summon it up from the balls of your feet, stand your ground, and own the space.”

The actor was quick to give credit to his co-stars and team, "You're given that confidence from [executive producers Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau] and from your fellow actors, which is incredible…. Everybody works at such a pitch. I must admit that what I'm overwhelmed with overall is a humility of greatness from the top all the way down through every department — the hours put in, the quality of work — and you can't wait to get back to set and see what's going to be revealed that day."

Stevenson further explained that his days were busy with action and stunt work but with great training from the team. When speaking about his character, Stevenson described Baylon as a non-malicious villain. In previous trailers, Baylon was seen wielding an orange lightsaber and using the Force Choke ability, but Stevenson was especially excited about Baylon’s relationship with Shin. The actor explained, "It's such an untold journey with Baylon and Shin. They kind of keep you second guessing. Are they? Aren't they? What is going on? What are they actually up to? Their first day they appear this, and then it develops into it could be this, or what is it? And then there's something else, something other. So it's a very exciting role to play.” Stevenson concluded the interview with a humorous anecdote about making the iconic noise the first time he turned on his lightsaber. Star Wars fans can see one of Steveson’s last performances when Ahsoka premieres on Disney+ this August.
