Warner Bros Discovery Shareholders Have Agreed That David Zaslav Makes Too Much Money And Rejects His $51 Million Compensation Package

While a non-binding move, Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders voted down providing executive David Zaslav with his 2024 compensation package by a margin of more than 300,000 votes.
This symbolic act, rejecting Zaslav’s time in the executive chair, sends a strong message that the combined company may heed despite the vote’s non-binding nature. As an example, Netflix shook up its executive compensation package in the wake of a similar shareholder rejection in 2023. AMC’s shareholders also rejected executive compensation packages that same year.
This recent rejection of Zaslav’s leadership comes amidst ongoing turmoil across Warner Bros. Discovery. Rumors are circulating in trades that the company is considering a split, streaming and theatre offerings continue to not help the company meet desired profit margins, and the video game division continues to flounder, with servers for the game Multiversus recently shutting down after a rocky release and limited time in the spotlight as a live service fighting game that combined various Warner Bros. IPs.
Despite these difficulties, The Hollywood Reporter still ranks David Zaslav as one of the highest-paid executives of the entertainment industry. His compensation package for 2024, which rose to 51.9 million dollars, is only outpaced by the packages given to the CEOs of Paramount and Netflix.
