Writing Team For 'The Acolyte' Includes Veterans From Marvel TV Shows

Since the announcement of Star Wars: The Acolyte, fans have been drawn into the series for the interesting premise and new era shown in the Star Wars Universe for shows.  The news ran dry for a while, but something fresh has finally dropped! The Writers Guild of America has released the lineup of writers for each episode, and they have some hefty credits behind them.

The first episode was written by Leslye Headland. Her most recent writing credit is for the television series Russian Doll, with other creative endeavors including directing and producing several episodes of Heathers and Almost Family. The second episode was written by Jason Micallef and Charmaine DeGrate. The former is the creator of the Heathers television series, while the latter wrote and produced episodes of House of the Dragon.

Episode three is in the hands of Jasmyne Flournoy and Eileen Shim; Flournoy wrote for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Heathers, and Shim has a House of the Dragon writing credit. The fourth episode was written by Claire Kiechel and Kor Adana. Kiechel has recent credits for The Watchmen and The OA, while Adana’s credits include The Imperfects and Mr. Robot. Episode five was written by Kor Adana and Cameron Squires. Squires was involved in WandaVision, among other projects.

Jason Micallef and Jocelyn Bioh headed the writing for episode six. Bioh’s credits include Russian Doll and Tiny Beautiful Things. Episode seven has a trio for the team: Charmaine DeGrate, Jasmyne Flournoy, and Jen Richards. Richards’ writing credits include the short There You Are and Threads. The final episode was written by Jason Micallef.

The Acolyte takes fans back to the last of the High Republic days. A Jedi Master and a former Padawan team up to investigate a string of galactic crimes; what they uncover is darker than they could have imagined. The release date has not been announced, but it is currently aiming for the 2024 window. There will be eight episodes in total. During the wait for this Disney+ show, Star Wars fans have plenty of content, like Ahsoka and Star Wars: Rebels waiting for a rewatch!
