It’s time for every nerd’s favourite topic to debate: the console wars. Nintendo is ready to step into their corner of the ring with their "successor to the Switch" set to be announced later this year, according to company president Shuntaro Furakawa. He recently posted in a Tweet “This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015. We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation.”

Earlier this year, Furakawa stated that the Switch would be the “main business” in 2024, and did not comment on anything else related to the hardware. The Nintendo Switch was announced in March 2015, and released two years later. Nintendo has not released a new system since then. They also announced that in June of this year, there would be a Nintendo Direct in June, and also stated that the “Switch 2” will not be mentioned.
