The Bad Batch still

It may only be episode four of The Bad Batch’s final season, but emotions are already running high. The Empire will stop at nothing to capture Omega after she and Crosshair’s escape last week. The two of them have to be very careful with their next moves. This episode was full of action, Omega showing off her skills, and an emotional reunion. All of which makes for perfect Star Wars

The episode continues from the premiere last week. Omega and Crosshair have successfully escaped Mount Tantiss, but now their real test is ahead, and that is to survive. They land on a nearby planet, where they try to blend in as best they can. The two of them do not want to stay there longer than they have to, but unfortunately, to get a shuttle off the planet, they will need to come up with 30,000 credits. That is no easy feat for two escaped convicts, but Omega has a plan. She uses the skills she learned from Cid’s bar, and can successfully win the money they need. An Empire official joins in on the gambling, where Omega upstages him. After her winning, he demands a fine for gambling, further enforcing how scummy the Empire continues to be.

The two leave and find Batcher missing. Surprise surprise, she was taken by the same Empire official whom they met in the bar. He knew who they were all along, and they were cornered. Crosshair does his thing and can pick off many stormtroopers, while Omega starts the ship. The two once again escape the Empire’s grasp. The most exciting, and emotional part of this episode was the long-awaited reunion at the end. It will be interesting to see how a certain character is reintroduced back into the group.

I loved seeing the dynamics between Crosshair and Omega in this episode. In the first season, we know that Crosshair was never a big fan of Omega, but he also didn’t get to spend a ton of time with her either, considering he fell to the Empire. Seeing these two interact and how they approach matters differently is entertaining. Crosshair was always used to guns blazing and would’ve shot his way through their various situations if it was for Omega. She learned that it’s not always good to blast your way through a situation, especially if other means are available. Once the two find each other's rhythm, they work well together and successfully evade the Empire once again. She has grown a ton since we were first introduced to her, and it's evident that the lessons her brothers taught her have stuck.  She is a talented kid, and Hunter would be proud.

The final season of The Bad Batch has been extremely strong so far, and we’re only 4 episodes in. Kiner Music has done an incredible job with the score, and the music for the final scene was some of the best. Next week's episode cannot come soon enough.

Rating: 9.5/10
