A certain bio-exorcist is back in the new teaser trailer for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Despite the short runtime, a fair bit of information can be gleaned. This film serves as the sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 film, Beetlejuice. One of the most prominent callbacks to the first film in this teaser is the use of Day-O (The Banana Boat Song). Harry Belafonte’s version was used in the original film during a possession scene; the trailer overlays a choral rendition of the song, showing a group of choir children performing it at a funeral. Once again, a model of the town is involved; Astrid Deetz finds it, and after an unclear amount of time, a portal to the Afterlife is opened. The juice is officially loose

The cast list presents an impressive line-up. Several members of the original cast are returning for the sequel, including Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz, and Michael Keaton as the titular troublemaking prankster himself. Fresh faces are joining the cast as well, such as Jenna Ortega as Lydia’s daughter Astrid, Willem Dafoe as a Neitherworld detective, and Monica Belucci as Betelgeuse’s wife. Burton is returning to direct the film.
