In the age of remakes and reboots, Tim Burton and Gillian Flynn, known for writing Gone Girl and adapting the page to the screen, are teaming up to resurrect a surprising cult classic film. With Burton’s vision and Flynn’s script, the pair will bring the 1985 sci-fi film Attack of the 50 Foot Woman to a modern audience. The original film stars Allison Hayes as a rich heiress whose encounter with aliens leads her to grow into the titular fifty-foot woman. Her altered state has consequences for her already troubled marriage.

Andrew Mittman and Tommy Harper will join Burton as producers of the film while Kai Dolbashian will take on the role of executive producer. The remake is in its early stages, so many details are still unknown. However, both Burton and Flynn have seen success at the box office. Flynn even won an Emmy for HBO’s Sharp Objects which was based on her debut novel while Burton gained fame from Nightmare Before Christmas, the Alice In Wonderland remake, Planet of the Apes, Batman, Batman Returns, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. With the two of them together, the cult classic may find a box office success when it finally makes its way to movie theaters.
