Hey there, dear reader! Welcome to this week’s episode of A Trip To The Trailer Park! This one is a bit late, but we’re back regardless! Last week, we took flight with Supergirl, learned how to rob a bank, traveled to 1966 Mississippi, and learned that variety isn’t always the spice of life. This week, we have no shortage of fantasy epics, real-life drama, good rock music, and TWO TIMES more Josh Brolin this week! Let’s not waste any time!

The Odyssey (Dir. Christopher Nolan)

From legendary Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception, Oppenheimer) comes his biggest and most ambitious film yet. The legendary Greek king of Ithaca, Odysseus, endured a long and perilous journey home after the Trojan War, facing mythical figures like the Cyclops Polyphemus, sirens, and the nymph Calypso, all while striving to reunite with his wife, Penelope. An all-star cast led by Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron, The Odyssey sails into theaters on July 17th.

The Social Reckoning (Dir. Aaron Sorkin)

From award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker Aaron Sorkin comes the follow-up to David Fincher’s acclaimed 2010 masterpiece. In 2021, whistleblower Frances Haugen unearthed leaks that exposed Facebook for the negative toll it’s taken on the world. In addition to finding proof that platforms such as Instagram led to declining mental health amongst teenagers, the report also revealed how often Facebook allowed dangerous misinformation to spread. Starring Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, Bill Burr, Wumni Mosaku, and Jeremy Strong, The Social Reckoning arrives in theaters on October 9th.

The Dog Stars (Dir. Ridley Scott)

From the Oscar-nominated director of Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, and The Martian comes a big-screen adaptation of the best-selling novel. After a deadly pandemic nearly wipes out all of humanity, a man known as Hig tries to make his way in the world. When he meets an ex-marine and a young medic, Hig begins to believe a new life is actually possible. Starring Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Alison Janney, and Benedict Wong, The Dog Stars takes off on August 28th.

Whalefall (Dir. Brian Duffield)

From producer Ron Howard and director Brian Duffield comes a feature film adaptation of the best-selling novel. While looking for the remains of his father, a scuba diver named Jay Gardener is swallowed by a sperm whale and only has a single hour to find a way out. Starring Austin Abrams, Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Shue, Jane Levy, and Emily Rudd, Whalefall swims into theaters on October 16th.

Nimrods (Dir. Lee Kirk)

Three teenagers go on a chaotic road trip while believing that their band is an opening act for Green Day. Starring Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, Ryan Foust, Jenna Fischer, and McKenna Grace, Nimrods rocks into theaters on August 14th.
