Grogu has come a long way since we met him in the first Mandalorian episode. He’s captured the heart of the Mandalorian, and millions of fans around the world as well. He’s one of three known in his species, the other two being Yoda and Yaddle. This little guy has grown so much throughout the seasons, and now is he a fledging to the Mandalorian clan. Let's take a trip through Grogu’s time on The Mandalorian.

Grogu was born in 41 BBY during the era of the Galactic Republic. He was raised in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, and trained by several masters until they fell during the Great Jedi Purge. He was rescued by Jedi Kelleran Beq and sent off to the world. The first time we are introduced to Grogu is in the premiere episode of The Mandalorian. Din accepts a bounty from The Client, a Moff Gideon’s Imperial Remnant member. He was sent to capture Grogu alive or could turn him in dead for a lower price. IG-11, an assassin droid, was also dispatched to help Djarin on his mission. Together, the two storm the Imperial encampment that Grogu is being held in. They found Grogu, and Din was confused when he saw him, as the bounty was supposed to be 50 years old. IG informs him that his aging process must be much slower, and tries to kill Grogu until Din shoots him. This starts the saga of our Din and Grogu adventures.

Trandoshan bounty hunters ambushed them, and then once they were defeated, they camped out in the desert for the evening. Din befriended a local, named Kuill, and together they were able to convince the Jawas to leave them alone. Grogu saved Din from a charging Mudhorn and showed off his force powers for the first time. Once the Razor Crest was repaired, they were en route to Nevarro. Once they reached Nevarro, Din turned Grogu into the Client and Dr. Pershing. The two were excited about their new arrival, and Pershing immediately began examining Grogu. He was taken away, and Din was curious about what they wanted with Grogu. Grogu let out a cry for help. Din was about to leave the planet then had a change of heart and decided to go back and rescue Grogu.

The two of them travel to various planets throughout the galaxy. Grogu meets many different kinds of creatures and people, and Din helps them out as best he can. Din makes it his new mission, to find someone to train Grogu in the way of the force. Eventually, he finds Ahsoka Tano. Ahsoka and Grogu bond and she reveals his name. Din tries to get her to take Grogu, and she refuses. Later, Grogu is taken by Moff Gideon, and Din stages a rescue mission to get him back. He establishes a team, and they embark on Gideon’s ship to rescue Grogu. They are successful and are eventually joined by Luke Skywalker, who is here to take Grogu and continue his training. This gave us one of the saddest Star Wars moments of all time.

Their separation was short-lived, however, and the two reunited during The Book Of Boba Fett. During their time apart, Grogu was trained by Luke. Luke eventually gave him a choice, to choose between being a Jedi or being a Mandalorian. Naturally, he chose the one that brought him back to Din. After their reunion, the two continued traveling the galaxy, trying to outrun the Empire. Grogu saves Din a few times throughout season 3. Grogu even said his first word, with the help of the IG droid. Din and company eventually go and defeat Moff Gideon. We see Din and Grogu relaxing in their new house on Nevarro, where they finally have peace and quiet.

Grogu started as a bounty for Din Djarin to bring into the Empire. He didn’t care what happened to him and just wanted the credits. It wasn’t until the two started to bond, that he realized he made a mistake.  Now, Grogu is his foundling in the Mandalorian clan. The two of them have been through a lot together, and Grogu has grown so much since we first saw him. While it is unknown what awaits Din and Grogu in the future, all we know is that they will take it on together.
