Where Did Cassian's Sister Go in 'Andor'?

Andor so far has given the public lots of great, memorable moments. From Cassian’s escape from Narkina 5 to Luthen’s easter egg-filled store, no other character has been put aside like Kerri, Cassian’s lost sister. One question remains, where is Kerri during the events of Andor? Even though we can only speculate, educated guesses are always welcome.

The series really doesn’t talk at all about this besides a few flashbacks at the beginning of the season. Cassian is still struggling with his past, but opposing the Empire has taken a bigger space on his priorities list. In Episode 1: Kassa, we first see Cassian sneaking into the planet Morlana One to look for info about his sister. He talks to one of the workers of a brothel, questioning her if she knew anything about it. We later see that Cassian and his sister were from Kenari, a Mid-Rim planet labelled by the Empire as being toxic. This happened after an environmental disaster.

We find out more during episodes 2 and 3. A ship can be seen falling out of the sky, and Cassian’s tribe, almost completely made out of children and teenagers, runs to see what is happening. Kerri, along with others, stayed behind in their camp because they were too young. Cassian should not have gone, but he insisted. They end up facing off against one of the outsiders (who was wearing an outfit with a symbol similar to the Separatist Alliance) with poisoned darts. They end up downing - temporarily - the threat. The man then proceeds to kill Cassian’s group’s leader, making Cassian rush into the ship riddled with fury. There, he encounters Maarva and Clem, who take him before a Republic frigate shows up to check the crash site. This is where the fun begins.

One important aspect that has to be considered is that all these flashbacks happen a few years prior to the start of the Clone Wars. Besides the situation on Kenari, we see later on the season Cassian’s early adult years on Ferrix. They feature Clone Trooper battalions still being used, but with Imperial officers giving them orders. Imperial authoritarianism was already at full steam.

After this, the flashbacks are dialled down. We are left with a void in Kerri’s story and what happened to her after the crash. Some propose that Kleya, Luthen’s assistant (and also a part-time spy), could be Andor’s long-lost sister. Kleya, by being deeply involved with the rebellion’s efforts, knows all about what has been going on. Luthen has mentioned Cassian to her, but this didn’t make a difference. She is a “means to an end” kind of person, and at the first moment that Andor became a liability, she sided with the option of killing him. Ouch. She could very well be his sister, but this has not been confirmed or hinted at in any kind.

Andor season finale and season 2 will likely touch more on the Kerri situation, confirming to us what happened to her. So far, speculation is our best tool. The capital of the Galactic Empire is where all the paths lead too.
