According to The Hollywood Reporter, another young star has been cast in the MCU’s iteration of the X-Men for the upcoming film directed by Jake Schreier.

Asa Germann, perhaps best known to audiences for his roles in Gen V and Scream 7, reportedly auditioned for the part of Scott Summers, aka Cyclops. However, while that role ultimately went to Kit Connor, the team behind the film was apparently impressed enough to offer Germann the role of Angel, aka Warren Worthington III. He has reportedly accepted, and so now joins a cast featuring the aforementioned Kit Connor, but also includes the likes of Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Maya Boyd as Storm.

It is a bit amusing that an actor so recently involved in a satire/parody/commentary on the idea of a school for young people with superpowers has achieved a role in one of the most prominent iterations of that concept in popular culture. Of course, Marvel isn’t confirming any of this news, providing no comment to THR, though the industry reporting about these casting announcements has, so far, been fairly accurate to this writer’s understanding.

There is likely to be more news soon, as X-Men continues to develop as a major project for the MCU, with the approach of events like Doomsday and Secret Wars to follow.
