Ever since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019, Marvel fans have continuously asked: “When are we getting X-Men?” While the MCU has included a handful of nods and character introductions, most of those have been multiversal variants and the X-Men ‘97 revival. With Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a main-timeline Jean Grey has been introduced, thus setting the stage for the future X-Men movie.
At D23, Kevin Feige went all out with a capstone presentation that introduced the stars of the upcoming X-Men movie. Initially joined by Sadie Sink (Jean Grey) and director Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts*), Sink told the crowd, “We’re here to talk about the X-Men. Should we meet some more of the cast?” They were then joined by Kit Connor (Cyclops), Maya Boyd (Storm), Samara Weaving (Emma Frost), Inde Navarrette (Rogue), and Christopher Abbot (Professor X).

Many of these names had already been in the headlines, confirmed to be cast, but there was still one major surprise. Adam Driver, after years of talks with Marvel, joined on a video call to announce he will be playing Mister Sinister.
The internet has debated for years who Driver could play in the MCU, with Feige confirming in the past that the actor was still waiting for the right character. With the recent announcement that Ryan Gosling will be starring in a Ghost Rider movie, fans will be satisfied that another actor they’ve waited so long for will be joining the cinematic universe. Directed by Jake Schreier, the untitled X-Men movie will be released in theaters on May 5th, 2028.
