A Dozen A-List Celebrities Have Donated Millions To The SAG-AFTRA Foundation
We are already weeks deep into the SAG-AFTRA strike, and people are donating money to the union. Wednesday, the nonprofit SAG-AFTRA Foundation announced that $15 million has been raised for the organization’s emergency financial assistance program. This can be attributed mostly to the donations from a dozen A-listers, who have donated at least $1 million each.
These figures include Dwayne Johnson, George and Amal Clooney, Luciana and Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Hugh Jackman, Deborra-Lee Furness, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Julia Roberts, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Meryl Streep, and Oprah Winfrey.

These donations are sure to help the union in their strike. With the disruption of film productions and actors encouraged not to work on most projects, people need the money to survive. These generous donations will help these actors as the strike drags on, with no real end currently in sight.
With the similar WGA strike also occurring around the same time, who knows what the future may bring for the industry? What is certain is one small thing: we likely will be seeing some big changes to the industry in the wake of this event. More information on this can be found on our website.
