In a surprising announcement today, November 4th, 2025, Games Workshop revealed a new gaming project made in partnership with Auroch Digital and poncle, creator of the mega-successful videogame Vampire Survivors. Its release a few years ago has seen a swell of similar games featuring wave-based combat, automatic attacks, and varied map layouts alongside incremental upgrades to a player’s weapons and gear gained through randomized loot.
Now, Warhammer is getting its own Survivors-like with Warhammer Survivors, set to feature gameplay for both Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar fans. On the 40K side, you have the main character of Auroch Digital’s pixelated hit Boltgun, Malum Caedo, alongside Cadian Shock Trooper Kozlowski, Brother Luca, a Space Marine Intercessor, and others yet to be revealed, fighting against ceaseless swarms of Tyranids. For Age of Sigmar, you have the likes of Neave Blacktalon, Gotrek Gurnisson, and Sharynn Azurwrath, a Stormcast Eternals Vanquisher, alongside others, combating ravenous hordes of Skaven.
Accompanying the article from Games Workshop was a trailer showing off the gameplay, and it seems to be a fun pixelated romp through a still-popular subgenre of gaming. The official licensing of poncle’s game engine is a real coup as well, and helps to create the expectation of a high-quality experience. Hopefully, when it releases sometime next year, in 2026, these expectations are met!
