'The Mighty Nein' Trailer Breakdown Reveals Much About The Story For Upcoming Release

The Mighty Nein

The first trailer for Critical Role’s new animated show, The Mighty Nein, was released during New York Comic Con. Fans got their first glimpse of what they could expect from the upcoming series. There’s a lot that happens in the trailer, and fans should recognize some of the bigger moments.

It begins with showing the Beacon, which, if you’ve watched the second campaign, you know how important a role that plays in the story. We get some glimpses into our group of misfits, who must team up together to save the world after the Beacon falls into the wrong hands. Not only do we get a glimpse of our heroes, but also the main villain, Trent Ikithon (Mark Strong), and fan favorite wizard and ally of the group, Essek Thelyss (Matthew Mercer).

We also see the brutal conflict that was known as the War of Ash and Light, which consisted of battles between the Dwendalian Empire and the Kryn Dynasty. There are fun easter eggs that fans will recognize, and plenty of scenes of Jester’s spiritual weapon, the pink lollipop. Yasha (Ashley Johnson) is missing from the group scenes, but we do see her swinging her sword in another scene. Her story is also getting retooled for the show, so she has a bigger role.
