Renowned science fiction and fantasy author Brandon Sanderson is rumored to be involved in the development of a new deck-building game. Sanderson has written many books with the same theme and established his fictional universe, the Cosmere, where all of his stories are connected. The studio behind this project is Brotherwise Games, which, according to their website, made their games not only for veteran players but was also “designed to bridge the gap between serious hobbyists and casual gamers”. Brotherwise is responsible for the creation of some games of their own, like Call to Adventure and Boss Monster, but also publishes licensed ones such as The Stormlight Archive and The Dragon Prince.

IGN points out that most likely the Mistborn saga will be the chosen one for this new deck game. While nothing has been confirmed by either the author or Brotherwise, it would make sense to be Mistborn because it has already sold more than 10 million copies so far. According to Sanderson’s website, the Mistborn saga includes 7 books, 4 of which belong to the Wax & Wayne series.

Sanderson’s website gives the public and his readers a brief explanation of how his books are structured:

“Mistborn is the name of Brandon’s epic fantasy trilogy. The first book is technically Mistborn: The Final Empire, though people just tend to call it Mistborn or Mistborn 1. The entire trilogy consists of The Final Empire (2006), The Well of Ascension (2007), and The Hero of Ages (2008). It’s a hybrid epic fantasy heist story with a focus on political intrigue and powerful action scenes.”

Sanderson’s work could be a nice addition to Brotherwise. His series are really famous, and all of his projects seem to have an incredible amount of support from fans behind them. Dicebreaker mentions that Sanderson crowdfunded a secret new series of books, and was able to gather US$ 41.7 million for this upcoming project.

Nothing has been confirmed so far except the fact that Sanderson is working along with Brotherwise on this project. A famous designer is also rumored to be included in the development of this deck-building game, thus making another interesting statement and raising expectations as well. The game is set to be released to the public on November 2024, following the publishing of some of Sanderson’s novels.
