'Avengers: Doomsday' Trailer Is Finally Here

After much anticipation, Avengers: Doomsday has released a major trailer in time to also announce that tickets are on sale for the winter blockbuster.

Featuring a wide cast of characters coming together to stand against the threat of Doom, a mysterious voice begins the trailer and speaks of a coming threat. Many have guessed this voice may be Robert Downey Jr.’s Doom speaking, but if so, what is he speaking about and to whom?

The rest of the trailer is carried by a monologue from Thor, surprisingly providing the sincere emotional center of this first major look at the film. His recent comedically focused appearances in the MCU are likely somewhat on the back burner for this instalment, as a darker, serious tone pervades the trailer. Even when the sun is shining and light fills the screen, many characters are in dark clothing and bear tight, or struggling faces, perhaps none more than the X-Men. Several of them appear in the trailer, in various states of aggression and weakness, as we also see what appears to be the destruction of Xavier’s school as a strange celestial event flares in the sky above the struggling sanctuary.

Two other notable trailer moments are Doom stopping Thor’s axe with only the smallest gesture, and then the not-so-surprising return of Chris Evans, seemingly as Steve Rogers. He is able to wield Mjolnir, so it doesn’t seem to be a deception, though how that character is appearing, or even what multiverse version of the character it could be, is unclear.

The trailer ends on the now-infamous countdown clock, still ticking away, showing us we’re under 5 months away from the film. Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theatres on December 18th, 2026.
