Brie Larson Set To Star And Executive Produce Adaptation Of 'One Italian Summer'

So an Oscar winner and an Emmy winner walk into a bar! It’s officially been confirmed that Academy Award winning actress Brie Larson will star in an upcoming film adaptation of the Rebecca Serle novel One Italian Summer! Harry Bradbeer is set to direct.

After suffering a shattering loss, a young woman finds an extraordinary chance to see her mother through fresh eyes, sparking unforeseen revelations and a profound exploration of love, existence, and herself. The novel was written by Rebecca Serle, who is best known for the Famous in Love trilogy. The trilogy was adapted into a short-lived television series on Freeform. A veteran of television, Harry Bradbeer is primarily known for directing 11 of the 12 episodes of the acclaimed comedy series Fleabag, Killing Eve, and Spider-Noir. On the latter two programs, he collaborated with acclaimed actress and writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge. His direction on all shows received high acclaim and won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for Fleabag. Bradbeer’s other prominent TV credits include Grandchester, Ramy, and Spider-Noir. He made his feature directorial debut in 2020 with the Millie Bobby Brown vehicle Enola Holmes. He returned for the film’s first sequel and the upcoming fantasy drama A Matter of Time. One Italian Summer will be Bradbeer’s first theatrical film.

In 2015, Larson starred in Room, which earned her critical praise and multiple accolades including the Academy Award for Best Actress. She’s also known for blockbuster roles including Mason Weaver in Kong: Skull Island, the voice of Princess Rosalina in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Tess in Fast X, and Carol Danvers aka. Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On television, Larson is best known for her roles in Community, Lessons in Chemistry, and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. She is set to headline the upcoming FX series Skeletons. Sources close to the writer of this article have said Larson will reprise her role as Captain Marvel in Avengers: Secret Wars.
