Seems Danny Ramirez is keeping his eye on the ball. The soccer ball that is! Last week, we shared news that actor Danny Ramirez was gearing up for his directorial debut, Baton. The upcoming sports film stars Maia Reficco, Diego Calva, Camila Mendes, Becky G, and Lewis Pullman. Now, Deadline has reported that Edgar Ramírez (no relation), Eugenio Derbez, Rosario Dawson, Gabriel Luna, and Mía Maestro have all officially signed on.
After Edgar Ramírez broke through in the acclaimed miniseries Carlos, he’s best known for his memorable roles in Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty, David O. Russell's Joy, and Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez. Eugenio Derbez is best known for his prolific dubbing career and for roles in The Book of Life and CODA. Rosario Dawson is best known for her roles as Claire Temple in the MCU and the live-action incarnation ofAhsoka Tano in the Star Wars franchise. Gabriel Luna is best known for playing Robbie Reyes in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Tommy Miller in The Last of Us. Mía Maestro is best known for her roles in Frida and The Motorcycle Diaries.
Danny Ramirez is perhaps best known for his role as Joaquin Torres in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. After inheriting the Falcon name from Sam Wilson (who is now Captain America), Ramirez reprised the role in Captain America: Brave New World and the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. In addition to directing, Ramirez will write, co-produce, and star in Baton.
