After being seen by many fans as a follow-up to Dave Filoni’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated show, the second season of The Bad Batch will be submitted by Disney for an Emmy under the category of Outstanding Animated Program. After first being announced in August of last year, The 16-episode season ran on Disney +, with new episodes being released 1 or 2 per week each Wednesday from January 4th to March 29th earlier this year.

The show was written by Jennifer Corbett and directed by Dan Rau, with Dave Filoni joining Corbett, Rau, Athena Portillo, and Carrie Beck as executive producers. It continued the adventure of the titular squad of clones. This squad included their leader Hunter, squad muscle and best fighter Wrecker, genius planner and technology specialist Tech, semi-robotic Echo who was given a backstory in The Clone Wars, and elite sniper Crosshair who split off from the group in season 1, all voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, as well as the child clone Omega who was voiced by Michelle Ang. Each of the above characters was a clone with unique qualities that made them different from the more common clone troopers.

Season 3 was announced this April, and is set to debut sometime next year on Disney+. An exact date for season 3’s release has not yet been announced.
