Exciting news for Diablo fans and roleplay gamers has recently dropped: a live-action trailer for Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo IV was released!  Directed by Oscar winner Chloé Zhao and co-director Kiku Ohe, this trailer brings the game to life and gives a solid sneak peek into what’s coming.  It takes the viewer through the land of Sanctuary, a place wrought with darkness and “unspeakable horrors,” according to the game’s website.  The description even sets the general tone of this Diablo installment, reading, “Will you fight the darkness?”  Check it out below!

Over and over again, the subjects of the frames beg the viewer to help fight.  In an interesting use of CGI, elements of gameplay are displayed in some of the scenes.  Lilith is the main villain in this installment, only a minor character in the past.  She is a demon who is set on being the ruler of Sanctuary and will wreak havoc and destruction to make this happen, as evident in the trailer.  Sanctuary needs help if it is to survive the violence.  The final panel reads “Deliver us from evil.”  As Lilith is involved in the central plot, this mildly biblical line makes sense.
