The live-action Tangled is back in production, with casting news coming out. And one wish of many fancasts could come true. Kathryn Hahn, already known for playing one witch in the Marvel universe, could become another if she takes on the role of Mother Gothel. The one who keeps Rapunzel imprisoned to use her magical hair to stay young.

Rapunzel, who will be portrayed by Teagon Croft, escapes one day to discover why lights fly above the kingdom on her birthday. Out on her adventure, she runs into Flynn Rider, who will be portrayed by Milo Manheim, who agrees to help her face the dangers of the world. Mother Gothel, finding that she has escaped, hunts her down.

Michael Gracey, director of The Greatest Showman, will be directing the live-action Tangled, which will be written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Kristen Burr of Burr! Productions will be produced, with Lucy Kitada being one of the executive producers. As yet, no release date is known.

The original 2010 animated Tangled grossed close to $592 million worldwide. As one of the most popular animated films of Disney in the last 20 years, they will of course be hoping for success with its remake. Which is sure to include the great songs it is known for, including the Oscar-nominated I See the Light.
