Donkey Kong Bananza returns to a familiar place in the latest DLC pack, DK Island and Emerald Rush. Launching today, the DLC pack focuses on the titular DK Island, a recurring location from the series, featuring nods to past games and a giant stone face of Donkey Kong that one can climb up and destroy at their leisure. The main collectable for the Island is emerald instead of gold, tying into the new Emerald Rush mode, where players will explore the game map to gain as many emeralds as possible, while completing mini-goals against the clock to try not to clock out. Rewards for Emerald Rush include new costumes and cosmetics for Donkey Kong and Pauline, as well as collectible statues to decorate DK Island with. DK Island and Emerald Rush cost about $20 on the Nintendo eShop, so fans should consider getting it.

Donkey Kong Bananza was released on July 17 for the Nintendo Switch 2. Essentially, Donkey Kong’s answer to Super Mario Odyssey, Bananza features sandbox levels with a greater use of voxel technology to create destructible objects. Bonanza was a huge success for the Switch 2, becoming a killer app within hours of its launch.
