Season two of The Rings of Power is still filming, albeit not for much longer, and despite the writer strike. It has some fans worried, remembering the effect of the 2007 writer strike, but word has it showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay anticipated the strike and worked to prepare for their absence.

Nevertheless, the season production seems to be continuing on pace for release sometime next year. And going off the success of the first season, the cast is still doing rounds with the press. Recently, Morfydd Clark and others of the cast from season one sat down for an event in LA and talked about season two.

RELATED:

According to Clark, Galadriel will don one of the famous three Elven rings of power, despite having originally been reticent to have anything to do with the rings once she realized that Halbrand was, in fact, Sauron and had a hand in their forging. In the lore, her ring is called Nenya, the Ring of Adamant, and she uses this power later to protect the realm of Lorien. The other two are known as Narya and Vilya. Narya was considered the Ring of Fire, beset with a ruby. It was worn by Cirdan the Shipwright, who is confirmed to be a character in season two. That ring is eventually given to Gandalf. Vilya, the Ring of Air, is considered to be the strongest of the three and therefore was worn naturally by the High King of the Elves, Gil-galad. Eventually, he gives that to Elrond. The showrunners have taken some artistic license with their approach, so it remains to be seen if this information will be translated into the show.

Clark also talked about other rings being forged in season two. Which rings she is referring to is unknown at the moment, but with the show being titled The Rings of Power, and there being seven rings given to the Dwarven lords, and then nine to the kings of men, it stands to reason that the other rings are likely to be these other 16. It is confirmed that Narvi, a famous Dwarven craftsman, is cast for season two, and in the lore, he works closely with Celebrimbor. Perhaps he has a hand in this?

With still a year to go in post after filming wraps soon, there’s plenty of time for more to come to light on these comments. Season one is currently available for streaming on Prime Video.
