Sauron In Season Two Of 'The Rings Of Power' Will Take Two Forms, And A Possible Conflict With Adar

Despite the production of season two of The Rings of Power being beset by some unfortunate events like fires and the loss of a horse, everything else seems to have gone smoothly. They’ve moved filming between the UK and Spain, with sightings of Daniel Weyman on-site in Spain. It was also confirmed that Narvi, a legendary Dwarven craftsman, will feature in season two.

Now, further word comes via Fellowship of Fans concerning season two, and this bit happens to be about the Dark Lord himself: Sauron.

RELATED:

According to Fellowship of Fans, their sources have allowed them to confirm that Sauron, who was revealed to be the true identity of Halbrand in season one, played by Charlie Vickers, will appear in two different forms in season two. This fits into the narrative in the lore that Sauron was a master of deception and disguises, appearing to the different peoples of Middle-earth in different forms. Given that his identity was exposed in season one to the Elves of Eregion, this news could mean that he will reappear to them in another form, trying again to deceive and control them. If so, he could show up with the name Annatar, as he’s known in Tolkien lore. Fellowship of Fans revealed this with a caveat: they cannot confirm if these two forms will be played by Charlie Vickers or he and another actor.

They also revealed that they confirmed Vickers shared scenes early in filming with Sam Hazeldine, the actor playing Adar, replacing Joseph Mawle, and Halbrand (Sauron) is severely wounded early in filming. The details of this information aren’t expanded on but it could suggest some sort of conflict between Sauron and Adar. This possibility was suggested in season one when Adar told Galadriel that he killed Sauron in retaliation for the Dark Lord’s experiments on Orcs. Many speculated when Halbrand was revealed to be Sauron, that he and Adar would come to blows.

With con season underway, expect to hear more news about season two in the months to come.
