Grogu Is The Only Disney Era Character To Be Featured In George Lucas's New Museum

George Lucas’s has spent the better part of the last decade working on his latest project, a Star Wars Museum. The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is worth over 1 billion dollars and opens this month, just in time for the 50th Anniversary of the release of Star Wars: A New Hope. The museum project has kept Lucas and his wife, Mellody Hobson busy for the past few years. Lucas hasn’t had any time to focus on what Disney has been up to since purchasing Lucasfilm from him; however, the museum acknowledges one of the most iconic characters of Disney-era Star Wars. Fans will be delighted to know that Grogu is featured as part of the museum, and he’s the only character from Disney-era Star Wars to receive Lucas’s nod of approval.
George Lucas has honored Grogu’s connection to his own creation, Master Yoda, with a statue that features the little green guy peaking mischievously behind Grand Master Yoda. Videos and pictures of the statue went viral the past week as fans discussed what the inclusion means. Although Disney has created many new characters over the past decade or so, it seems Lucas, like many others, has fallen for the little guy’s charm. Din Djarin, Rey Skywalker, and Jyn Erso fans just have to accept that the creator has spoken. In the past, Dave Filoni revealed that he discussed Grogu with Lucas, who advised him to make sure that the kid is shown completing his training. During the filming of The Mandalorian Season 2, Jon Favreau shared a viral picture of Lucas holding Grogu like a newborn baby. Later on, behind-the-scenes footage captured the moment that picture was taken by Favreau, as cast and crew cheered on Lucas and called him Grogu’s “great great grandpa.” The Mandalorian is also the only set from the Disney-era projects that George Lucas personally visited. During the filming of Chapter 13, Lucas was photographed with Rosario Dawson, who was dressed as Ahsoka Tano for her live-action debut. Meanwhile, apart from Grogu, the Lucas museum honors many other important characters from the original and prequel trilogies, including Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and General Grievous. The Mandalorian and Grogu is streaming on Disney+.
