Hayden Panettiere has passed away at the age of 36. She was well known for her roles in Heroes and Nashville, but she got her start as a child actor, bringing her talents to Disney’s A Bug’s Life and Dinosaur. Gamers may remember her as the voice of Kairi in Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II as well as the voice and motion capture artist for Sam in Until Dawn. Panettiere also had starring roles in Remember the Titans, Ice Princess, Scream 4, and Raising Helen. Outside of film work, Panettiere released a book called This Is Me: A Reckoning this past May, detailing her struggles with postpartum depression, alcoholism, trauma, domestic abuse, and grief. Her brother Jansen died in 2023 at the age of 28 from an enlarged heart and aortic valve complications. Panettiere said at the time, “I will always be heartbroken by it.” Her thirty-seventh birthday would have been on Friday, August 21 of this year.

Panettiere is survived by her daughter Kaya Klitschko and her father, Skip Panettiere. The details of Panettiere’s death are being kept private with the only details being that she died in South Carolina. Skip said in an official statement to ABC News, “It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her – and to the millions who watched her onscreen.” He also asked for privacy as the family navigates this "unimaginable loss.” Her final voiced line from Kingdom Hearts II makes a fitting tribute: “Thinking of you wherever you are. We pray for our sorrows to end and hope that our hearts will blend.” Rest in peace, Hayden.
