James Mangold's Huge Deal With Paramount Won't Impact His 'Star Wars' Project

James Mangold has recently (as of the publishing of this article) signed a deal with Paramount Pictures to distribute his latest picture. This project, titled High Side, will be a biker thriller starring Timothée Chalamet, who previously worked with Mangold on A Complete Unknown. This will be followed by more projects that the writer and director will make for the studio, for an indefinite amount of time. Co-chairs Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg have stated, “James Mangold is one of the most talented filmmakers working today, and we could not be more excited to welcome him to the Paramount family, starting with High Side and many more collaborations to come.”
James Mangold was working on other projects before signing the deal, including a Star Wars movie tentatively titled Dawn of the Jedi. A representative has confirmed that Mangold currently remains attached to the project, with the deal enabling him to continue working outside Paramount. This makes sense, as JJ Abrams was actually under contract with Paramount when he directed The Force Awakens. However, whether or not he will ultimately stay on board for the project, we’ll just have to wait and see. Now we return to the Unknown Regions of the internet.
